Mr. Sansing entered the service in October 1943 and went overseas in April 1944. He met death on November 23, 1944 on Leyte, an eastern island in the Philippines, and was representative of the cost of fulfilling General Douglas MacArthut's promise to return to and to liberate the Philippines. West Point, Mississippi paid a portion of the cost with the loss of Mr. Sansing.

He was survived by his wife, Alice Ray Sansing, who was living with her father, A.E. Walker in south West Point, his month old son, James Barry Sansing, and his mother, Mrs. Jodie McDougal of Pheba, Mississippi.
