Mr. McVey was born on December 17, 1894, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. McVey. In May, 1917 he and other West Point boys were sent to Camp Pike for basic training. In July 1917, he was sent "over there" to fight in France. Local people remember him as a moral, steady, sober, and industrious younf man. He died on October 20, 1918 from pneumonia while serving in France. He was survived by his father and one brother, Cline McVey, who was serving in France as a sniper. |
