Julian Evans "Bill" Ivy
U.S. Marines


Mr. Ivy was born on January 5, 1900 and was killed in action on June 7, 1942. Bill had volunteered to join the Marines, and was amoung the first Clay County servicemen to die in combat. His ship, an Army transport vessel, was torpedoed about June 7, 1942. He was thought to be on the port side of the ship when it was struck. The ship was transporting his marine unit. He was 42 years old when he died.

He was survived by a brother, Charles Ivy, of West Point, Mississippi, and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Ivy.
