Mr. Gosa was born on August 3, 1914, and spent most of his life in Clay County.

He entered the service on September 12, 1941, and was posted to Hawaii on May 5, 1942 for two years. As a member of the Miss. AFC, 105th Infantry, 27th division, he was sent overseas in 1944 during the liberation of the Japanese held islands of the western Pacific. In some of the most bitter fighting in the war, Private First Class Gosa was killed in action on June 27, 1944, during the retaking of Saipan, the second largest island in the Mariana Islands.

His body was buried in the 27th Division Cemetery on Saipan. On June 8, 1948 his body was returned to the United States and is buried in the Cario Cemetery in Clay County, Mississippi.
