Growing Up
With The Railroad

A featured exhibit is a 1927 Model T Ford car
originally adapted for use on the C & G Railroad.
The car is on loan from the Smithsonian Institute's
Museum of American History in Washington, DC.
The central feature of the museum is the largest
working model railroad exhibit in the south.
Designed by Marvin Elliott of Jackson, Mississippi,
and built by local volunteers Pete O'Shea,
Homer Dyer, Walter Newel, Kip Brewer, and others,
the highly detailed HO scale model depicts the
railroad yards of West Point, Starkville & Columbus.
A favorite with children of all ages, the train exhibit
is comprised of over 10,000 individual works of art.
Fine artists Cindy Davis, Pat Gavin, Erin Gavin,
Lucky Osbourne, and many others have created a unique tribute to the history and culture of West Point.
