The Mann/East/Friday house is located adjacent to the Bryan Reading Park at 307 East Westbrook Street. The historic home bridges the Court Street Historic District and the West Point Central City Historic District. Originally built in 1866 by Jabez Mann and occupied by his descendants for 120 years, the house was named "Rothbury" by Mr. Mann as a remembrance of his childhood home in England. The home was purchased by The West Point Community Foundation and beautifully restored through the generous contributions of local citizens. The Museum contains a general West Point history section, a Payne Field exhibit honoring the Clay County World War I pilot training base staffed by Kurt Friday, a Howlin' Wolf room, and the offices of the West Point Community Foundation. The museum is the second in a series of museums planned to become a West Point Museum Complex. This museum complex concept, originally conceived by the late Sam Wilhite, is gradually being realized through the contributions of local citizens and the Community Foundation. The Mann/East/Friday/ house museum is a "must see" when visiting West Point!
